Blackfire

Age 12. Half-cat with orange fur and orange eyes; when her fire power activates, “it looks like there’s fire in her eyes.” In public she goes by the alias “Layla Brown” and wears a costume to disguise her true appearance as a regular human girl. Character inspired by the song “Born on Fire” by Ike Riley.

Blackfire was born with a “mysterious firepower, which happens whenever it builds up whenever she gets angry.” Her power is compared to a Green Lantern ring: she can construct almost anything out of fire — “She could build a net with fire. The fire goes in the shape of the net and then goes away and there is a net right where it was.” She can also use fire as a plain weapon and can touch a campfire to start or build one. “She is very powerful because she can literally make almost anything she wants.” She is also a science and technology genius.

She is an orphan with no family. Villains seek her out rather than the reverse, because of her power: “the villains are trying to get rid of her.”

She lives in an apartment on the second-to-top floor of a skyscraper in Los Angeles, with two rooms (bedroom and living room), a kitchen, and a private bathroom. Her living room has been converted into a workshop for science and technology projects.

Notable story: She once fought Medusa, using goggles she invented in her workshop — after much tinkering — that allow the wearer to look at Medusa without being turned to stone. The snakes were not a significant threat.
