Wolf Spider

Age 12. Engaged to Night Owl; known each other one year.

Appearance: Two arms, two legs. Midnight-black wings covered in star speckles — “look like a night sky”; wings are scaly (made of scales), not bird-shaped or butterfly-shaped. Eight tails with stingers that retract and extend. Can change the color of her fur.

Wing origin: Unknown — not derived from any of her four component species; a mystery.

Powers/abilities:

• Animus magic: Can animate/transform any physical object — e.g., turned a pebble into a world; built the treehouse with animus powers. Using animus on large or selfish spells risks corrupting the soul; overuse can cause physical injury/weakness.
• Animus bracelet: Her very first spell — a bracelet that prevents her animus from affecting her soul and blocks use for selfish purposes.
• Advanced animus practice: Currently practicing turning air molecules into living things — described as extremely difficult and advanced.
• Shape-shifting: Standard wolf form has eight tails.
• Wall-climbing: Can climb walls like a spider.
• Flight: Via wings.
• Animal communication: Can talk to animals (part animal).

Personality: Tough, fearless, shy on the inside but never shows it. Opposites-attract pairing with Night Owl. Mostly goes exploring in the forest; likes finding new animal species and ancient ruins. Very dedicated to her garden — described as her soft side. Sometimes howls at the moon. Vegetarian.

Backstory: When Wolf Spider was two, a fleet of human raiders raided her village, chased everyone out, and burned it down. Some Geminins from the village even joined the raiders, which angers Wolf Spider deeply. Her spider trait came from her grandmother (half-spider, half-person). Her vampire trait traced back through many generations to a great-great-great-[…]-grandfather who was a vampire — a recessive gene passed down through many generations. Parents discovered her spider trait when they found her crawling on the ceiling in wolf form (with eight tails) and became even meaner because they disliked spiders. She eventually ran away from her family. Parents: mother is part wolf, part human; father is fully human. Grandmother: half spider, half person.

Notable discovery: Found an ancient castle/village during exploration. Inside a fireplace she found pieces of a burned squirrel scroll telling the story of the village — red fog swept over it, possessing people and animals (eyes turned red, they weren’t themselves), turning trees and grass black and gray. The scroll also mentioned a huge face appearing in the fog then disappearing. The scroll had smudges of black and red ink with fingerprints. Wolf Spider believes the possessed villagers followed/were taken by the fog into the Dark Forest.

Also: Found Gemina‘s origin secret mentioned in an ancient scroll in an ancient ruined library inside a jungle palace. Has a hand-drawn map of Gemina’s islands; has explored some, with unknown white islands yet unvisited. Has her own computer (Night Owl hacks it for pranks).

Pet: A wolf with eight legs and antennae. (Described as half-spider by nature but with no spider qualities except eight legs.)
