Poison
Age 10 in dragon years, equivalent to approximately 8 in human time. Younger sister of Luna.
Appearance (dragon form): Predominantly light/neon green scales that shift from darker green in dim light to neon/almost yellow-green in sunlight. Her tail is very dark green — almost black — because it was once paralyzed; the tail recovered (rare for her tribe) but the scales stayed “paralyzed” dark. Scale “speckles” on her face resembling freckles. A human standing next to her in dragon form would reach approximately to her shoulder.
Powers:
- Shape-shifting: Can shift into literally anything — trees, logs, rocks, blankets, rabbits, clouds, glasses, a moth, a table, a tire, a sign, or any imaginary thing if described to her. Requires intense concentration and visualizing the target form. Can now shift in under a blink. Early on she would get halfway through a shift and snap back. Shape-shifting is an extremely rare hereditary power — her great-(×many)-aunt had it; it skipped many generations and resurfaced in Poison. Her spikes work in any shifted form.
- Poison spikes: Retractable spikes from the wrist/hand area; activate automatically in danger but are also controllable. Different spikes have different effects: affects trees, affects living things, sleeping darts, fireballs, water balls, and stuffy/pillow capsules that expand into full pillows. She is immune to her own poison. She is best at pillow fights using her pillow-spike ability.
Backstory: Her home dragon planet was attacked by humans (who the dragons considered the aliens) when Poison was 2. She escaped on an escape pod (“skate pod”), was accidentally sucked into a black hole, and traveled one hour to reach it and one hour through it — she described the inside as boring blackness with occasional weird objects whizzing by. She arrived in New York City and has been there since. She always shape-shifts into human form to blend in, and only shifts in secret in the forest, with only Luna as witness.
Relationships: Sister Luna (older, age 12). Owns a kitten; Luna made it animus and Poison gave it shape-shifting power — it is one of the only beings who can see Luna’s true dragon form. The same human who destroyed their home world followed them to Earth and suspects their identity.
Named for: Her wrist poison spikes.
