Isla's Mansion (NYC)
Eight floors tall. One main entrance (front door); back door leads to a fenced yard. Cats roam freely across all eight floors. Previously owned by Isla‘s grandmother; family now lives there while grandmother is in a care home.
Backyard: Kitty obstacle course; “little shower pool” for cats that like to splash paws; deeper “less shower pool” for cats that want to submerge.
Library: Contains a special “cat book section” — books made of plastic; each contains a cat-related reward (treat, food, mouse toy, cat toy); embedded sensors collect data on which items cats prefer; data extracted weekly via a pop-off spine compartment containing a small computer. Also contains lickable sensor stations for cats. Has a staircase; cats fixate on the bottom of it for unknown reasons, sometimes pouncing at it.
Cat Bot: Invented by Isla and her parents. Rounded body, cat ears, hands/arms. Fills food/water dish when a cat stands at it; brings toys to cats that want them. Name origin: One of the cats typed “cat” and “robot” emoji on a laptop while lying on it; another cat typed “cat bot” by rolling on a computer.
