Amethyst
A 12-year-old mutant half-cat, half-human with angel wings, six stinger tails, and a tail made of 15 talking snakes — who breaks mythical creatures out of zoos.
Age: 12.
Species / origin: “Basically looks like a cat, but walks like a human. Can also walk and run on four legs, stands like a human, has human hair, paws.” Born from an egg stolen from the Mythical Creature Village in California. “She started as a normal cat with three tails.”
Appearance:
- Color: same as Tails from Sonic — “a mix of orange and yellow.” (Father is yellow, mother is red — “so that’s how she got orange-ish, yellow orange.”)
- Cat paws.
- “White wings that look like angel wings.” Wings are fire-resistant: “if fire touches her wings, it’ll just look orange-ish for a moment and then it will fade away.”
- Six bushy tails the same color as Tails from Sonic. “She has six tails that look like tails tails.”
- Six tails tipped with stingers: “like scorpion stingers, but it looks like a little sharp knife”; stingers are retractable — “they slide in and out.”
- Gills like a fish on her neck (added via potion).
- Fifteen snake tails: “it looks like she has one tail, but it has a bunch of snakes. It’s made of snakes.” “15 snakes… they wrap around her six bushy tails to form a snake. It looks like she has one tail that’s made of snakes.” Each snake has its own head. The snakes are living, separate creatures but have no end to their tails because they are attached to her. Snake tails grow/retract as long as she wants.
- Venomous retractable stingers in her claws.
- Wings were added via a potion injected into her egg before she hatched.
- Gills also added via a potion during experimentation.
Name history: At the zoo she had no real name — she was called “three” by internal number, and the zoo gave her different made-up names each time she was put on display “to pretend that she’s a new mythical creature.” She received the name Amethyst from her family when she reunited with them at age eight.
Backstory / origin timeline:
- Stolen as an egg from the Mythical Creature Village in California.
- Experiments began when she was two years old.
- Over time she received more tails, then stingers added to the tails, then a gill potion, then finally at age six the snakes were added.
- The snakes had minds of their own, could talk, and collaborated with Amethyst: “they can talk… they wanted to get out too.” “She didn’t know the power before then, but the snakes showed her because the snakes have a mind of their own, their own separate creatures.”
- She escaped on the night she turned seven. “Those snakes can bite through concrete.” The laboratory had not known the snakes could do this.
- She had “a concrete prison with only one small barred window that she could see through into the rest of the zoo.”
- When displayed, she wore metal chains around her tails and snakes so they couldn’t hurt anyone, clamps on her wings so she couldn’t fly, and “thick leather” handcuffs over her claws.
- At the zoo she was put on display wearing an orange jumpsuit; sometimes “sparkled up” for VIPs.
- After escaping, she traveled with no money and no food — orange suit “torn and ragged and dirty from her traveling with no money.”
- Started in Canada, traveled across the United States and has gotten to “almost every state in the United States,” currently in Mexico.
- At age eight she found the Mythical Creature Village in California and reunited with her whole family. Her family made her new clothes.
Powers and abilities:
- Flight via angel wings.
- Fire resistance (wings).
- Amphibious breathing via gills.
- Snake tail teeth can bite through concrete.
- Snake venom: “can knock out an elephant with one bite… just knock out for a few hours.”
- Snakes can squeeze through holes or windows and extend to reach targets: “one of the snakes can squeeze through a hole or a window and find Deathblood.”
- Retractable scorpion-like stingers on six tail tips.
- Retractable venomous stingers in claws.
- Tail hairs detect electricity: “if there’s a lightning bolt 12 miles away, her tail will detect a spike in electricity” — “really good at telling when hurricanes are coming.”
- Expert fighter: “Amethyst is super good at fighting.”
- Has knocked out Deathblood “a few hundred times.”
Current outfit (post-escape):
- Favorite: “white bell bottoms and a white, long sleeved, loose hanging shirt.”
- Along arms and legs: “stripes of gold, like gold fabric” with tiny embedded bits of emerald, sapphire, and other jewels — “each one representing a name of one of her family.” Clothes made by her family.
Personality: Brave. The one thing that scares her is when Golden doesn’t know something. Has a sense of humor — leaves prank boxes for Deathblood: “he deserves that.”
Mission: Rescuing mythical creatures from the Mythical Creatures Zoo chain; traveling to various zoos to break creatures out. Funded by jewels and gold from the Mythical Creature Village.
Family (at the Mythical Creature Village, California):
- Father: yellow-colored (same species).
- Mother: red-colored (same species).
- Siblings: Gold, Sapphire, Emerald, and Jewel. Colors include pink, purple, “a bunch of different colors”; all have three tails; all non-mutant mythical creatures.
- She was the only family member kidnapped.
Creatures freed in the initial jailbreak: A talking unicorn; a Pegasus; an alicorn (“it has a horn and wings”); a cat person with wings but with a normal cat tail instead of multiple/mutant tails; a cat with a tail covered in spikes; “a bunch of other mythical creatures.”
Notable stories:
- Has knocked Deathblood out “a few hundred times” using snake venom, sending snakes through gaps in walls/windows.
- Has trapped Deathblood in his own cages repeatedly but he always escapes mysteriously — possibly teleports or phases through walls.
- She and Golden leave “mysterious gifts” for Deathblood that punch him in the nose when opened — “a red sparkly fist that acts like liquid, but it’s solid… comes out of the box… turns into a hand, a fist, and punches him in the nose.” The gifts look different each time so Deathblood keeps falling for them.
