Golden
An 11-year-old mutant half-fox, half-human who knows almost everything and runs faster than light — the planner to Amethyst’s fighter.
Age: 11.
Species / origin: Pink fox, half human; born from an egg — “that’s the only way they could have catched her” because she was too fast/powerful. Taken to the zoo/laboratory because she was half human, which classified her as mythical creature material.
Name origin: “She has human hair and it shines with gold. It’s gold and it shines golden.”
Appearance:
- Pink fur.
- Human hair that “shines with gold.”
- Five tails (used to have only one normal tail before experimentation).
- Giant ears: “even bigger than” a fennec fox — “her ears are as big as Glory” (Glory being a ~20-lb chicken); “ears the size of a cat.”
- Cat-like whiskers.
Backstory: Escaped from the same zoo/laboratory as Amethyst; Amethyst helped her escape.
Powers and abilities:
- Eyesight: “sharper than a cat’s… super good night vision, can see literally every single color… every wavelength of light and can see in the dark like it’s daytime.”
- Hearing: super.
- Whiskers that detect air movement — “the slightest whisper of air.” Currently at age 11: “130 miles away.” By age 20: 2,000 miles away. By age 25: 3,000 miles away — “that’s almost the whole United States.” She can direct whiskers: “if she’s in California, she can point her whiskers to the other end of California and she’ll feel the air currents there.”
- Can turn senses up and down at will.
- Smell: “if someone was cooking something on the grill, she could smell it from 13,000 miles away.”
- Speed: “faster than the speed of light… she could go across the whole world three times in only a day… faster than Sonic the hedgehog… she definitely makes sonic booms.” “She doesn’t get too tired from that fast running.”
- Super brain / omniscience: “she knows almost everything… just ask her any question, she knows the answer.” “If you need to know anything, anything in the entire world… entire universe, entire multiverse… she knows basically everything.”
- Computer “hacking”: knows all passwords because she knows everything — “it’s not really hacking, it’s just she knows the passwords.”
- All senses of any human, cat, or animal “hyped up to a hundred.”
Role in the partnership: “Golden makes the plans. Amethyst does the fighting” and jailbreaking.
Gift-box trap: Amethyst and Golden together make mysterious gift boxes for Deathblood containing “a red sparkly fist that acts like liquid, but it’s solid” — it “comes out of the box… like a wave… but it turns into a hand, a fist, and punches him in the nose.” The gifts look different each time so Deathblood keeps falling for them.
One limitation: There is exactly one thing Golden does not know — how Deathblood always escapes his cages. “That scares Amethyst… when Golden doesn’t know something, that’s the one thing that scares Amethyst.” Golden’s best guess: “he can either teleport or phase through… maybe he’s half ghost or something.”
